Types of Containers and their classification

Containers
Containers or containers to cargo containers which are specially designed for moving goods from one place to another, easy loading and unloading and also can be used repeatedly due to its resistance, commonly used for sea, river and land routes.

Among the most common are the 20' and 40' standard and 40' HQ, these are regulated by the ISO 668 standard which specifies the length, width and height measurements and the maximum weight they can support.

Types of Containers
Standard Container
These types of containers can be found in 20 and 40 feet, the dimensions for the 20 feet container are 5.9 m long, 2.3 m wide and 2.3 m high, the maximum load recommended for the container is 21.8 tons.
The measurements for the 40 feet, the width and height measurements are the same as those of the 20 feet, only the length is modified which is 12 m. The maximum recommended weight for this type of container is 26.7 tons.
This type of container is characterized by the fact that it has all its walls and does not have ventilation or refrigeration system.
High Cube Container
This container can also be found in 20 and 40 feet, for the first one its measures are 5.7 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.7 m high, for the 40 feet container the measures are the same and only the height changes to 11.8 m. Cuen

Open Top Container
It has most of the characteristics of the standard container, the exception is that it does not have a top (roof). It is used to move goods with too much weight and that have to be removed with a crane or when the goods exceed the height. They are not very common and therefore their cost is high.
Flat Container
They can be adjusted to the measures of 20 and 40 feet, the characteristic of these containers is that it does not have side walls or top, it is usually used to transport machinery because it can travel oversized transport, with irregular volume and very heavy.
Ventilated Container
The main characteristic of this type of container is that it has openings in the upper and lower parts so that air can circulate freely. Hot air is expelled through the upper side while fresh air enters through the lower openings.
Refrigerated Container
It can be found in 20 and 40 standard and High cube dimensions respectively, it allows maintaining a temperature between -25C and +25C, although it is believed that it can reach up to -60. It has a motor although the container must be connected to the electricity of the ship, port or truck for the transfer. It is usually used to transport fruit, vegetables, dairy products and meat, generally goods that need to be refrigerated.
Tank Container
It is cylindrical in shape and is used especially for the transfer of liquids or gases. The cylinder is anchored to metal beams with the shape and dimensions of a normal container for easy handling. They are also available in 20 and 40 feet.
They can be used for the transfer of bulk goods.
