We Fight for Freedom and Struggle for Love
In life we fight to rid ourselves of unwanted bounds and strictures. We protest laws or rules that control us toward slavery or unrewarded servitude. And perhaps most deeply, most passionately, and with all of ourselves we strive in any open way imaginable to maintain our inherent rights to be, to love, to think, to feel, and to create! That failing we go about these things anyway, sometimes at great risk, since these qualities are our nature.
The desire of creation is to put forth a future and live it. For this we need freedom. This is a state of true potential, for once a direction is taken, we have let go of other paths, at least for that time. Government is an idea put into practice. It is one of the things we create in cooperation with one another. We choose how we will channel and direct this creation of our society. We choose boundaries, hoping that this will benefit us all. And this, at its best, is an expression of love, of the unity of action that yet allows a game, of our brotherhood.
This is a greater struggle for love. It is each of us and all of us as we reach for our future through our families, through our groups great and small, through humanity, enfolding to ourselves other living beings and our very universe and even through god and the infinite, we reach. This takes love. And to secure these things we use governments. They are our means of agreement and our definition of action.
Government is a way we can understand what to do together and how we want to go about it. A government, as such, does not create; individuals do. It is a construct we use. "A benign government, designed and run for ALL the people, has been known to smooth the way: when such occurs, it deserves support.", L. Ron Hubbard.
