Why Generic Manufacturers Sell Viagra at Lower Prices

The generic manufacturers don’t spend much on initial research and development of the meds. All they have to do is borrow a formula that was developed by the maker of the branded drug.


Introducing a new product to the market has its hurdles. This is one of the challenges that the brand-name manufacturers have to undergo. The advertisement campaigns and creating awareness of the new medication on the market cost a lot. The generics, however, come in when all this has been ironed out, and they simply hitchhike because they don’t have to deal with acceptability problems.


The generic manufacturers are usually smaller scale companies. It, therefore, means that they don’t have much of their revenue being channeled to labor, rent and other production-associated costs.


Most of the manufacturers of generic meds are based in developing countries, and they don’t have to pay heavy taxes. They also get the raw materials cheaply, allowing them to sell their products at relatively low prices.


 


Because the generic meds are many on the market, they obviously want to outcompete each other. This prompts a general decrease in prices in a bid to attract the buyers.
