How to decorate with industrial style

The industrial style, also known as urban style, is a decorative style that has its origin in the typical architecture of the industry, an unpretentious architecture and a visual appeal that has to do with the nudity of its structure and materials.

The industrial style can have certain retro and vintage tics, since it uses old elements, like furniture rusted or worn by the passage of time.

HOW TO GET AN INDUSTRIAL STYLE AT HOME?

SPACE AND WALLS

One of the main requirements is that the space is as clear as possible, it must give a sense of spaciousness. The walls will keep them natural without hiding construction materials such as brick, cement or concrete. On the roofs we will follow the same premise of keeping the wooden or iron beams in view. To give an even more daring touch we could even leave views of the pipes, pipes or installations.

OPEN AND DIAPHANOUS SPACES

One of the characteristics of the industrial style is the use of space with open, spacious and open areas. It is typical to find this type of urban decoration in lofts of industrial style, where furniture and objects can breathe and enjoy their own space.

As we have explained, this type of decoration is inspired by the New York industries of the 50s, where these spaces were rehabilitated in spacious houses, hence this decorative style can refer us to the aesthetics of old, large and spacious factories, designed to that workers could move from one space to the other in a fluid way.

MATERIALS

The main materials of the industrial style are wood, iron, cement, concrete and brick. The palette of predominant colors are white, black, gray and brown, in general very neutral tones. Natural fabrics such as wool, cotton and linen will help to bring warmth and break the cold character of this style.

All these textures can be introduced from pieces of furniture such as shelves, cabinets, chairs, stools or tables.

ILLUMINATION

Lighting in the industrial style is fundamental.

In terms of natural light, stop by large windows in black or dark finish and without curtains or accessories.

For interior lighting it is better to opt for lamps in metallic finish, bulbs hanging directly from the ceiling, spotlights or also metallic fixtures. Dark colors predominate for these pieces.
